Today started like any other day by me waking up, drinking a cup of hot tea followed by an ice-cold glass of lemon water, and a quick make-up routine before heading out the door to work. I packed a homemade energy bar for later in the morning since I’m never hungry before I need to leave the house. When I arrived at work, like any other day, I was one of the first of the admin team to arrive. Joe was there somewhere in the building doing the daily maintenance that wasn’t handled by any of our cleaning droids. He seemed to like to work from back to front and usually stopped by to say hello when he was working near my office.
I sat down at my desk and got situated, double-checking my schedule that I had already checked at home. Plans seldom change during my commute, plus I commute on auto-pilot so I could always check during the drive but for some reason, I still prefer to watch the road. I even choose to ride near the control panel so I can take over the vehicle if needed, something my friends never do anymore. They think I have control issues. I think they’re too trusting of technology and we leave it at that. When I pulled up my calendar, I saw that I had a new client meeting earlier than I usually allow them to be slotted in. The AI is allowed to override my preferences when it calculates the likelihood of the client becoming a member or otherwise positively impacting our profit margin.
